BidPrime Quarterly Edition: 27, 2022 - Q4

BidPrime News Jan 18, 2023

What Happened and What is Ahead?

On behalf of our entire BidPrime team, we hope that you had a safe, successful 2022 and are positioned for and looking forward to a rewarding 2023.

Over the course of the past year, BidPrime experienced continued growth in our ability to continually better serve you and your business. Along with making investments to expand our Austin-based Client Service team, we added new layers of curation to refine and enhance the opportunities you find through BidPrime. Our direct, personalized service and support to you is a top priority for our organization.

We made additional refinements to DocSearch, which we unveiled back in 2021 (read more below in Maximize BidPrime). DocSearch is a Premium Data add on that searches deep into our collection of bid specification documents and offers you the ability to perform quick searches of over 50 million indexed documents. Contact your Account Manager to see how you can quickly search for terms, brands, models, parts, qualifications etc., important to you by looking deep into bid documents.

At the beginning of last year, we launched Beacon, BidPrime's flagship E-Procurement service for government agencies to share and publish their bid and RFP opportunities. In this time we're proud to have built many new agency partnerships relying exclusively upon Beacon for their procurement needs.

You do not need to register for an account on Beacon to receive notices of RFPs posted on Beacon by agencies. As a BidPrime customer, we have ensured that your account is already automatically linked to opportunities within Beacon, by way of your BidPrime subscription. As a result, you are able to view and download documents posted by agencies on Beacon through your BidPrime account. And very soon, you can submit your electronic bid responses directly to agencies through your integrated BidPrime account.

Our common goal is to improve efficiency in the bidding process. We are making concerted efforts to spread the important message to the public sector, and it is resonating. Agencies are listening and improving their procurement processes. Just recently, we presented at California Association of Public Procurement Officials, Inc, and published pieces to the public sector about ’5 Reasons You Aren't Getting Enough RFP Responses.

We have new products planned for BidPrime this year related to Contract Intelligence and Future Opportunities. These products have been years in the making, and derived from feedback and conversations with our valued customers. We're very excited to roll these out and share these with our customers.

I also wanted to note that our team continues to closely monitor and evaluate the increasing number of programs and opportunities resulting from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). To date, there has only been approximately $120 billion allocated from the $1.2 trillion enacted from the bipartisan legislation. There is certain to be more to come. We expect most of these funds to be delivered and contracted through the State and Municipal public sector – agencies of all sizes.

To our clients who have been with us since our launch in 2009, and all who have joined us more recently, we thank you for your trust, support, and business. We continue to understand and respect that our successes and accomplishments are a direct result of our relationships with you and we look forward to serving you for many years to come.

Here’s to a great 2023 and stay tuned for more!

Industry Analysis

State Broadband Offices Should Emphasize Adoption and Sustainability

From Broadband Breakfast, December 22, 2022, By Em McPhie

Without efforts to drive adoption, federal investment in connectivity will fall short, agreed Brookings panelists.

As states begin to receive funds from the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Act, they need to lay the groundwork for high adoption and fiscal sustainability, said panelists at a Brookings event on December 15.

The majority of the BEAD program’s $42.5 billion in funding has yet to be disbursed, and state allocations are expected by June 2023. But without efforts to drive adoption, the government’s investment in connectivity will fall short, panelists agreed.

“If we make these investments and people don’t see the value in how broadband can improve their lives, both professionally and personally, then frankly it’s a busted investment,” said Veneeth Iyengar, executive director of ConnectLA. “And so from our perspective, we’re looking at how we can really help drive Louisiana’s economy… which also means driving adoption, digital skills and doing the kinds of things that we need to do to tackle the digital divide.”

Record U.S. investments in infrastructure mustn’t remain unused for another year

From Fortune, December 19, 2022, By Nathan Rosenberg, Tamara Lundgren, and Michael Hopkins

It’s been more than a year since the $1.2 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) was enacted. Only now is the literal and figurative rubber starting to hit the road.

At least $120 billion for specific projects have been announced so far and, as the money begins to flow, important course corrections are already evident. It is especially important to accelerate two of the IIJA’s modern priorities: broadband and the electric grid, which will require careful collaboration between government and business leaders.

Vital investments

High-speed internet, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, has become a virtual prerequisite for participation in many aspects of American life. But not all Americans have access–especially those in low-income communities or in sparsely populated areas–a gap that the new infrastructure law seeks to address with a $42.5 billion program designated for unserved or underserved communities.

DocSearch

Are you interested in seeing some advanced search results? Our DocSearch product enables you to look deeper into the bid documents.

DocSearch is our premium search tool which allows us to extract relevant keywords from the Bid Documents and match more opportunities to you. We included some really successful examples below from a couple of clients so you get an idea of how it could work for you.

Is there a good day/time to show some examples of DocSearch in your industry?

Contact your Account Manager or call toll-free (888) 808-5356.

Example #1: This client sells products for water playparks - splash pads, water slides, and water features. She wanted to know about new park construction bids but construction bids are irrelevant to her unless the bid documents specifically mention her water products.

Here's what we did for her …

Example #2: This client is a high-end design firm that designs several products, including wayfinding signs. They don't do any installation or fabrication - design only. She was more concerned with having to read through 30 pages of documents to find keywords design, install, and fabrication. We were able to help her target the design projects using DocSearch and also cut her reading time significantly by using our DocView product to read the documents for her.

Again, if you have questions about DocSearch, or need any assistance with how you are currently using DocSearch, contact your Account Manager or call toll-free (888) 808-5356.
